One more example that weird doesn't necessarily mean bad...in fact, in the case of Marc Bolan, weird means totally and completely superb. The sound, the lyrics ("Well you're built like a car, You've got a hub cap diamond star halo, You're built like a car, oh yeah"), the look (Russell Brand long before Russell Brand)--everything completely eccentric. T Rex molded glam rock to Bolan's image, a modern day Dorian Gray with a better sense of humor.

MySpace Mondays... &T
*Taken From Their MySpace Page* http://www.myspace.com/andtmusic
'Brothers, Marc James and Mati, have always been drawn to great house music. They have explored and produced many other genres but have always found themselves gravitating back to the electronic dance scene. With the ever improving production skills of the top electronic producers and the huge advances in technology, now is the time to have a clearly defined killer sound that is unlike anything ever produced. And-T knows that in every great house track there is a certain vibe you get that just feels right and makes the song stand out above the rest. Its not always the bass, not always the synth, not always percussion and sometimes a total mystery. Many never find it in their tracks. And-T's goal is simple - find that "vibe" and inject it into each and every track. Please enjoy our music!'

Wednesday Weirdness: "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer"
Christmas is the season for novelty songs! One of the most well known, Dr. Elmo's "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer," has been around for 30 years this year.

The Irish Rovers
Less than Jake

The song is so popular that it spun several (far more entertaining) spinoffs:
Da Yoopers, "Grandpa Got Run Over by a Beertruck"

Bob Rivers, "Grandma Got Dismembered by a Chainsaw" (Not for the more sensitive listener)

The Bleeding Edge: Johnny Flynn, "Sweet William"
The newest from Johnny Flynn, the EP "Sweet William," is a beautiful continuation of what Flynn started with his debut, A Larum. The songs run in the same new-folksy vein, accompanied perfectly by Flynn's clear voice. "Drum" is a little on the sparse side, but builds to a sparkling crescendo of layered vocals; and the title track is so bittersweet it must have a cocoa content of at least 90%.
Give the four songs a listen here.

Can't Get It Out Of My Head SOTD: Johnny Flynn, "The Box"
One of the best new artists from the past couple of years....
Wednesday Weirdness: WHAM! "Last Christmas"
Let's all admit it...WHAM! was weird. Everything was weird in 1984, but George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley took the cheestastic strangeness of 80s music to dizzying new heights. From the synth, to the breathy, smooth vocals, to the poofy feathered hair in the video, "Last Christmas" is a sappy sugar-coated confection; for all that, it's still one of the best Christmas videos to come out of the 80s.
Stocking stuffer! Check out Swearing at Motorists' version of Last Christmas here.

Last but not least, it is one of the world's most famous pop singers, and this time she releases a live album from one of the greatest cities in the world New York. A wonderful surpise here, this album contains tunes that are easy on the ears as well as the whole system. A must have this week from the Electronic world, the songs 'Lovesick' & 'Music In My Mind' are the main downloads. A must have...
What can I say, this is the musical movie of the year and the soundtrack does not disappoint. How better to hear our most glamourous female movie stars belt it out? Of course, the main track of the album is 'Be Italian', sung by the ever wonderful Fergie. A must download!

Throwback Thursday: Paul McCartney& Michael Jackson
Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursday! This week we are going to be taking you back to the year, 1983...
Throughout musical history there have been many great duets that have overtaken the charts. From Sonny & Cher to Peaches & Herb, duos seem to make the music happen. However, one duo in particular made more than just music or history, but shock and awe instead... This duo was Paul McCartney, of Beatles fame, and Michael Jackson, the King of Pop.
In 1983, when the duo decided to sing the song 'Say Say Say', it was a meeting of two great musical minds. The song would eventually chart @ #1 (This day), however the controversy of the Beatles catalogues would soon follow, and like all good things, this duo came to an end...
In any case, here is your Throwback for Thursday, 'Say Say Say':

Tappin' That Azz Thursday: Beyonce & Lady GaGa
Throwback Thursday: Boyz II Men
Welcome back to another edition of throwback Thursday. This week we are heading towards the year 1994, when the musical Quartet, Boyz II Men, were at the height of their popularity.
In the early 90’s, when Philly’s Finest (other than the Cheese Steak & Rocky), made their debut with ‘Cooleyhighharmony’, it was apparent that this group was sent to take over the R&B scene. However, it was with their single, ‘End of the Road’, that helped them crossover to mainstream success. Heck, even Oprah shed a tear at their performance.
It was after that, Boyz II Men came out with their follow-up, ‘II’. The first single released was “I’ll Make Love To You”. This song would sit atop the charts at #1 for 14 weeks, replacing ‘End Of The Road’ as the longest charting single of all-time (Which broke Elvis’ record).
But, this is not the most amazing feat done by the group. It was after releasing the 2nd single, ‘On Bended Knee’, that they would become the only the 3rd artist/group (Elvis & The Beatles, 1st & 2nd) to replace their own #1 with another #1. This song would be released November 1, 1994, and it would sit atop Billboards hot charts this day in 1994...

Wednesday Weirdness: The Wurzels
The Wurzles are a delightful and long-lived (4 decades!) UK band who specialize in pastorally-themed song parodies and revamped covers, to always hilarious and sometimes poignant effect. (Their cover of Oasis's "Don't Look Back In Anger" is particularly excellent.)

New Music Tuesday Time... Albums Of The Week
Allison Iraheta - Just Like You
This is the debut album from the former American Idol contestant, and it is primed to be right up there with the former winners of the contest. Only one thing, Iraheta did not win. In a way this is actually refreshing, because that Idol stigma does not carry over at all on this album. Having released her first single, ‘Friday I’ll Be Over U’, the mood and sound of the entire album can be seen. Definitely a must grab, especially if you are having a tough time still deciding, ‘Kris vs. Adam’…
R. Kelly - Untitled
This is the 9th studio album from the R&B singer/songwriter, and so far has generated much buzz. Initially supposed to be released in 2008, it was leaked, as well as the ensuing court case around Mr. Kelly, therefore production was halted. However, the album has been since released, and with its lead single, ‘Number One’ (featuring Keri Hilson), it seems R. Kelly is back to Rule the R&B charts. A must have this week…
Blakroc
This is a must have album for the Winter season, as it adds a unique touch to any music lovers library. A collaboration with the Rock band, ‘The Black Keys’ and some of Hip-hop’s most influential artists such as, Raekwon, ODB (Deceased), Jim Jones, Mos Def, Ludacris, Q-tip, and produced by Hip-Hop heavy weight Damon Dash, this album is hard to miss. A must have for all the music lovers out there…
Juvenile - Cocky & Confident
This is the 9th studio album from the New Orleans Rapper and let it be known Juvenile is still the man after all these years. With his album, ‘Cocky & Confident’, it packs a punch with such collaborations with Dorrough, Pleasure P, as well as other artists. With its lead single, ‘Hands On You’, it set the tempo for whats to come. A must have this week…
The Bravery - Stir The Blood
This is the 3rd album from the New York rockers, and it was recorded in an old, abandoned church which once had been used by the B52s & The Pixies. With the release of its first single, ‘Slow Poison’, charting at #24 on the Alternative song charts, and a 2nd single, ‘I Am Your Skin’, the album looks to be at least an underground success, if not Mainstream. A must have for my Alternative Rock listeners…
