Tappin' That Azz While Throwin' It Back: Sophie B. Hawkins

Hello Lovers & Ladies, welcome to a strange edition of both Throwback & Tappin’ That Azz Thursday. Now, usually these are broken up into two, but I was listening to a song that was a cover; And that cover was also of a song that can be deemed ‘Tappin’ That Azz Worthy.

Now since we are also in Throwback mode, I’m going to take us back on a little trip to 1992. Ah the early 90s, how memorable those were. It was the year in which everyone was excited. Mariah Carey released her Unplugged CD, Nirvana Debuted, and Milli Vanilli was ordered to pay up (Poor guys, but Blame It On The Rain). What was also very exciting was singer/songwriter Sophie B. Hawkins.

Sophie B. Hawkins was an up and coming musician when she released her debut album ‘Tongues and Tails’. The album was critically acclaimed, and even garnered Hawkins with a Grammy nomination. However, not all were pleased.

Released in 1992, the main single from the album caused such a stir amongst the public, that the original video was banned for its high erotic content. Written about a woman being in love with another woman, this also didn’t help matters. At the time, when it wasn’t fashionable to be homosexual, this was all still very taboo, therefore the haters came out to play in full force. However, one still cannot deny the power of the song, to make you wanna just go tap that azz no matter who you are lusting after! 'Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover', now ;o)

So here it is, your Throwback to Tap That Azz Song… Enjoy, I know I will ;o)

Tappin' That Azz Thursday: Robin Thicke

Hello, welcome back to another edition of Tappin’ That Azz Thursday. Today we are NOT going to take you back to any certain point in Music history. Instead, we are going to introduce you to a new song that will most definitely help heat things up in the bedroom.

When Robin Thicke hit the music scene, he did so as a songwriter. Thankfully, he did not stay behind the scenes. With his soulful music, he helps all the listeners swoon over his wonderfully written R&B songs, as well as his voice. Just recently, he released a new joint which definitely gets ‘Tappin’ That Azz’ honors.

The song, most appropriately titled ‘Sex Therapy’, is a romantic way getting you lover in the mood; it surely puts me in it. With his smooth voice going over the beats, its indeed the perfect therapy to get on down. Its also the lead single, from the R&B singer's next album, wonderfully entitled the same name, 'Sex Therapy' (December 2009).

So here it is, your ‘Tappin’ That Azz’ tune of the day. Enjoy it, I certainly know I will ;o)

Audiocreeps: Focus, "Hocus Pocus"

Throwback Thursday: Mariah Carey

When Tommy Mattola introduced the world to Mariah Carey, it was one of the defining moments in Music History. Not only is she the most successful artist throughout the 1990s, she is also is the only solo artist to have the most #1 singles, at eighteen. Her first #1 single, would be one of her most memorable. It is also a perfect description of her overall style, that has kept influencing the Music world since Mrs. Canon hit the scene all the way back in 1990.

In January of 1989, after being signed to Columbia records, Mariah Carey began writing (with Ben Margulies) and recording her first single for her self-titled debut album. The song was a soulful rendition of a woman having a 'Vision of Love' for the man she loves. At the time, a listener would think this was about a significant other. However in recent times, it has been stated that that man was none other than God.

When the song was released on May 15, 1990, it became an instant success and introduced the world to one of the best selling female artists of all time. It garnered Mariah Carey with many honors and awards, as well. She won Best Pop Vocal performance at the Grammys, in addition to Best New Artist. The song itself also introduced us to the most important thing about Mariah's voice... her ability to hit that one unatainable note, that only she can sing.

Forever, she will always give us a 'Vision', and for Throwback Thursday here is yours, a 'Vision of Love'...

Tappin' That Azz Thursday: Color Me Badd

Welcome to another edition of Tappin' That Azz Thursday. Today we are taking you back to 1991, when Color Me Badd was one of the hottest new things to pump in the bedroom, other than humans...

When this group hit the airwaves, it was unbelievable. Their smooth voices made a girl wanna do badd things to her man, and her man to touch her in all the right places.

What made this song even more a hit, was the fact it was given its street credability, when it was used in the 1991 epic film, 'New Jack City'. Who could forget Nino Brown, while he was gettin' down?

However, in recent years, the song has been panned as one of the worst. But I think it jealousy, cause you know when the critics hear it, you know they think back to when they were doin' the nasty with someone nasty. Color Me Badd just has that effect...

So here it is, "I Wanna Sex You Up'. Enjoy Tappin' That Azz, I know I will ;o)

Throwback Thursday: Cyndi Lauper

The 1980s were full of colorful people. On the men's side you had David Lee Roth, David Bowie, Simon LeBon. On the women's side, there were females such as Cher, Madonna, and Debbie Harry. However, none of them could be as unique and instrumental to the 80s as Cyndi Lauper was.

In 1983, Lauper had released her debut Album, 'She's So Unusual'. From this legendary album, many hits were spawned. The lead single 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun', solidified her as a mainstream legend. The 2nd single released 'Time After Time' also made sure to craft a different side of the songstress, as a feeling human being. However, the 3rd single would cause a ruckus, hilarious at best though.

In 1984, after all of the success of the 'She's So Unusual' album, Lauper decided to release 'She Bop'. Filled with innuendo and double meanings, the song would become a hit. It would also go to be listed on the 'Parents Filthy Fifteen' list of naughty songs, children should not be listening to. The reason why, was because Lauper seems to be eplicitly talking about the taboo subject of, dare I say... masturbation. The video, however, does more for the imagination.

So here it is, you Throwback for Thursday...
