The Bleeding Edge: The Hex Dispensers

Ready for some heavy duty spooky music yet? Check out Austin, TX's Hex Dispensers. They take the creepy music themes to a whole new level, eschewing the typical ghosties and ghoulies for more MST3K-inspired subjects ("Brain Inside a Jar," "Cloak and Dagger Complication," and "I've Got My Doppelganger On" are particular favorites). Their new album, "Winchester Mystery House," (recorded and mixed by Mark Ryan of The Marked Men and Riverboat Gamblers fame) is filled with hard and fast songs accompanied by classically punkish vocals; and several of their songs, for example "Gates of Steel" and "Buy You a Ring," tend toward wonderfully infectious garage-rock.

"Are You An Assassin?"

"Forest Ray Colson"

"Cloak and Dagger Complication"
