International Spotlight: M. Pokora
Biography:
Born Matthieu Totta, in Strasbourg, France, September 26, 1985.
Was a member of a the French R&B groups Mic Unity and Linkup (Popstars).
Starred on an International reality show called, Popstars, which helped launch his solo career as well as other artists, such as Girls Aloud.
Released his first solo album, self-titled, in 2004. The second single, 'Elle me contrôle', from the album won 2 awards.
Was made to change his stage name, Matt Pokora, to M. Pokora, which forced him to re-release his self-titled album under his new alias.
In 2006, he released the album “Player”, which contained a duet, 'It’s Alright', with Ricky Martin. Hits also included, ‘Oh la la (Sexy Miss)’, ‘Mal de guerre’, and ‘De retour’.
For his latest album, ‘MP3’, he collaborated with R&B producers Timbaland and Ryan Leslie. ‘MP3’ was created as a crossover album, in which 12 of 14 songs are in English.
Singles off of the album that were hits on French charts were: “They Talk Sh** About Me”, “Catch Me If You Can”, and the lead single ,“Dangerous”, with Timbaland.
