Today we are going to take it back to 1987. The year of the Iran Contra Affair and Love Affairs. The Year when Reagan wanted to tear down that wall, and the year of the man trying to get into those walls, if you know what I mean ;)
1987 was an explosive year for all the lovers, and Musicians as well. In particular, George Michael. With the release of his 1st solo album, after departing WHAM!, the artist was going in a completely different direction. No more bubble gum pop for this man; and a man indeed he was. To declare his newfound freedom, what better way than to release a sexual anthem.
On June 1, 1987, George Michael would release one of Music History’s most controversial songs and videos. Banned from Radio and Television Airplay, the song would become a hit for the British singer. It would also become one of the songs to help solidify sex in mainstream music, as well as getting listeners in the mood.
