DJ Spotlight: Felix Da Housecat

Born Felix Stallings, Jr. in Chicago, Illinois on August 27, 1971

Is a world renowned Music producer & DJ

Is mainly known for creating Chicago house music, as well as electro clash; a genre of dance and new wave music

Owns the Record company and label, Radikal Fear Recordings of Chicago

Was also a graffitti artist in his early youth when he discovered his talent for Djing

Was brought into the music business at the age of 15, when then DJ Pierre discovered him

Released his first single, ‘Phantasy Girl’, in 1987


While being away at Alabama State University, he was influenced by hip hop and R&B. This would also later influence later works.

In 1992, he released the track ‘Thee Dawn’, and gained popularity abroad in Europe
He would once again collaborate with DJ Pierre, for the tracks ‘By Dawn’s Early Light’, ‘Thee Industry Made Me Do It’, and ‘Thee Dawn’


Had a hit single under the alias ‘Aphrohead’, titled ‘In The Dark We Live (Thee Lite)’. It was given special attention by DJ Junior Vasquez, and later remixed by the famous DJ

After the release of ‘In The Dark…”, He formed Radikal Fear Records

In 1995, he released his 1st full length album, ‘Alone In The Dark’

In 1999, he released the Single, ‘My Life Is Musik’

In 2001, he released the album ‘Kittenz and Thee Glitz’. This album would give Felix Da Housecat mainstream attention. This album has been seen as one of the main influences of the Electroclash movement

In 2004, He released the album, ‘Devin Dazzle & the Neon Fever’. From this album, he was able to use tracks from the 1980s and create new singles that were heavily praised

In 2005, released the single ‘Jack U’, in which he collaborated with P Diddy. It was also at this time he released the hit track ‘Silver Screen (Shower Scene)’. The song has been used in the show ‘Entourage’ as well as various video games and other shows.




In 2007, he released the album, “Virgo Blaktro and the Movie Disco”, which was produced by Dallas Austin. The single ‘Like Something For Porno’ was released as the lead single.


In 2009, he released the album “He Was King”, which is a tribute to Prince. The 1st single from the album released was ‘Kickdrum’. The latest single from the album is ‘We All Wanna Be Prince’

In his large repertoire of music remixes, he has since reworked singles for Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, Ciara, The Chemical Brothers, Garbage, Gwen Stefani, New Order, The Pet Shop Boys, & Madonna
