Tappin' That Azz Thursday: H-Town

Hello to all my lovers out there, we are back for another edition of Tappin’ That Azz Thursday.

What can I say, we are going to revisit that most magical year again 1993. It was a year that brought many couples together in agreement. Such couples as President George H. W. Bush & Boris Yeltsin, Yasser Arafat & Ytzhak Rabin, and The Czech Republic & Slovak Republic, could not get enough of each other… and who can blame them? It was a magical year for politics, and of course Azz Tappin’ Tunes…

To get such talks going, it certainly helped that there was music to set the mood, and who better to provide that than Houston, Texas’ finest, “H-Town”.

From the very beginning, H-Town was all about getting down, so much so that they gathered the attention of fellow Azz Tapper and ‘2 Live Crew’s’ leader, Luther ‘Luke’ Campbell. When he heard their smooth sound, he instantly knew that they were stars on the rise, that he signed them to his record label.

On May 11, 1993, their most infamous single was released. It would eventually hit #1 almost a month later and become not only a bedroom anthem, but also a saying that would be used up until this very day in reference to the song (although The Candy Man had his own song by the same title).

So to here it is to all my lovers who are into some good lovin’ and wanting to be ‘Knockin’ Da Boots’…
