DJ Spotlight: Ferry Corsten


Born On December 4, 1973, in Rotterdam, Netherlands

Is a World renowned Producer, DJ, and remix artist

Hosts his own radio show named ‘Corsten’s Countdown’

Released his first produced track at the age of 16, but officially started working as a musician at the age of 27

Used many aliases for record releasing. His 1st single to chart, was ‘Don’t Be Afraid’, released under the name ‘Moonman’


Founded his own dance label with a partner in 1997 named, Tsunami. He would go on to create another label by the name, Polar State

During this time, he would also be studying to become an Electrical Engineer

In 1999, he released the album ‘Out Of The Blue’ with a solo project named, ‘System F’. The album would release a single of the same title, that would chart in the UK and become a dance hit. Another single off the album, ‘Cry’, would also chart by reaching the UK Top 20


During this time, his growing fame would allow him to work alongside famous Djs and producers such as Tiesto, William Orbit, and Robert Smit. One such remix is William Orbit's 'Adagio For Strings' remix. Due to his rise, he was even featured on the Ministry of Sound’s compilation, which later went on to be certified Platinum in sales


In 2001, he was available to remix tracks. One such was that of Ayumi Hamasaki of Japan. The single ‘Connected’, was released in Germany, and has become one of his most successful songs to sell. It sold 4 million


In 2005, he founded a record label of his own, named ‘Flashover Recordings’. The 1st album of his to be released on the label was ‘L.E.F.”. The track ‘Fire’, became the hit single of the album, due to heavy rotation and requests


In 2007, he was given his own satellite show, titled ‘Corsten’s Countdown’, in which it is dedicated to trance tracks

In 2008, he released his current album, ‘Twice In A Blue Moon’. The title of the album was said to be named due to the 2 influences in the DJ’s life: The birth of his daughter & his wife. In fact, the song ‘Gabriella’s Sky’ was named after his daughter. Other singles released from this album were, ‘Brain Box’, ‘Radio Crash’, ‘Made of Love’, and ‘We Belong’


During the release of the album, he was also able to remix for other artists such as The Killers and their track, “Human”


Currently, the DJ is on tour playing various clubs with tens of thousands of fans.
